Some State Parks Open Monday
Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Friday morning that Florida State Parks would open on Monday, May 4 as part of his Phase One plan to reopen Florida. He cautioned that social distancing guidelines should be followed.
By afternoon, Florida State Parks had clarified that the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) would implement Phase One of park reopening only for select parks, with limited hours, capacity and amenities. Approximately 80 parks and trails will open and only those areas that could be reopened for day use with limited risk to visitors and staff.
Lovers Key State Park at 8700 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach will only open its boat ramp on May 4. The rest of the park will remain closed according to the park list provided by the DEP. Normal operating hours of 8am to sunset will be in effect. Visitors will be asked to practice proper social distancing and to limit group size to 10 or less and to stay six feet apart.
