Bikes on Sidewalks

122

Even though bicycle “sharrows” are painted on the roadway from times square to Red Coconut, some, including myself, find it intimidating to ride in the street. Additionally the curbs are so tall that the foot pedals of my bike strike the top of the curb if I get too close. Riding on the sidewalk too is a challenge especially approaching pedestrians from the rear, as many time they are spread across the entire width of the sidewalk. I noticed last time I was in Hollywood Fl. that their boardwalk has a marked path designated for bicycles and pedestrians. Perhaps the town could look into marking the sidewalks in that area with a designated bike lane about two feet in from the curb.
