    JULY 4th FUN

    Fort Myers Beach has a full day of fun on tap for the Fourth of July! The Parade begins at 10am at Bay Road and travels to Old San Carlos Blvd. There will be live music in Times Square starting at noon with High Tide playing from 12-4:30pm and Remedy from 5-10pm courtesy of the Times Square Merchants Association. Fireworks will begin at 9pm from the pier. The Matanzas Pass Bridge will be closed on Thursday, July 4 from 9 – noon for the parade and from 9 – 11:30pm to incoming traffic to allow exiting traffic to use both lanes.

    5th OF JULY CLEANUP

    Join community volunteers to give our beach a good cleanup the morning after Fourth of July fireworks. Meet at Lynn Hall Park, 950 Estero Blvd, FMB, just north of the pier at 8am.

    MORNING MEANDER

    Join an experienced Bird Patrol Guide in Lakes Park, 7330 Gladiolus Dr, Fort Myers, on SA July 6 at 8am for Morning Meander, an easy walk along clear paths with an opportunity to see birds in native vegetation. Lakes Park is a birding hot spot and crucial nesting area for many birds. Wear comfortable shoes and dress to be outside. Bring water, sunscreen and binoculars.     PROJECT MONARCH

    Join the Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve on TU July 9 at Tuckaway Café for the July presentation of the Friends’ Summer Story & Speaker Series. Jim Rodwell will discuss the Preserve’s Project Monarch butterfly program. Social fellowship and the chance to purchase food and drink begin at 5:30pm with the speaker beginning at 6pm. 2301 Estero Blvd.

    AIBOU DUO CONCERT

    Shell Point Retirement Community’s’ 2019 Summer Concert Series welcomes a performance by Aibou Duo at 7pm, WE July 10 in the Grand Cypress Room at The Woodlands at Shell Point, 14441 Woodsong Lane, Fort Myers.     ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT

    Chapel by the Sea hosts a monthly Alzheimer’s Support Group for Caregivers. Their next meeting will be FR, July 12 from 1 – 2:30pm. Discussions are conducted by trained facilitators. This is an opportunity to exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions and to learn about community resources. For more information call 239-463-3173.

    SPAGHETTI DINNER

    Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church will host its monthly, community Spaghetti Dinner on SA July 12 from 5-7pm On the menu will be Spaghetti & Meatballs, Spicy Sausage and Peppers & Onions, Salad, Garlic Bread, Dessert and beverages. Tickets $10/person with kids 10 and under free. Wine tickets 2 for $5.

    GROUPER SLAM

    The 5th annual Grouper Slam benefiting the Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC) will be held SA July 13 at Royal Shell Port Sanibel Marina, 14341 Port Comfort Rd, Fort Myers (just off Summerlin Rd.)     ART QUILTERS

    Art Quilters Unlimited (AQU) will hold their next meeting on SA July 13 at 12:30pm at St. Hilary’s Episcopal Church, 5011 McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers.     BOWLING BASH

    The 6th Annual FMB Chamber Bowling Bash will be held on July 18 from 4-9pm at Beach Bowl. Enter a team of up to 6 players and play from 5-7pm or 7-9pm.     DISASTER APP

    Lee County Emergency Management offers two new tools to help residents prepare for and be aware of hurricanes and other emergency situations – the LeePrepares app and the AlertLee notification system. The LeePrepares app is available in Google Play and the App Store. Features include GPS locating of evacuation zone; real time info from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on shelters and evacuations; recovery info on re-entry, curfews, distribution points; FAQ; family disaster plan and emergency supply list, and more. The AlertLee system is an emergency notification system that allows registered users to receive telephone, text and/or email alerts related to natural  or man-made emergencies.     EDISON FORD ESTATES
