The volunteer advisory group, Bay Oaks Recreational Center Advisory Board or BORCAB for short, tasked with supporting the mission of and advising Town Council on the Bay Oaks Recreational Campus, meets monthly. Here are some of the highlights of their recent December meeting:
Healthy New Policy:
We’re proud to announce that Bay Oaks Rec Center and Pool is now officially a non-smoking facility! This updated policy applies to all grounds, both inside and out.
BORC/Town Council Update:
The Search Committee for a new Director has narrowed 198 applicants
down to four finalists. A new director will be chosen in the coming weeks. Town Council has requested funds for a Bay Oaks kayak launch from the Tourist Development Council (TDC). With TDC’s approval, these funds will provide improvements to the makeshift launch currently being used. A new pool heater/chiller is in the works. Bids are currently in review with hopes for installation in January.
-Adult Basketball season has begun with four regional teams playing on weeknights.
-Indoor Pickle Ball courts are open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-Teams are now forming for Youth Flag Football, games begin in January.
The Rec Center is now open on Sundays from noon – 6 pm – Every resident is a member! For more information call 239-765-4222
