Looking to kick off your Easter Weekend in an egg-citing way? Then hop on down the Bunny Trail to the Bay Oaks Recreational Center on Saturday, April 20, for the free family fun Easter Egg Hunt hosted by the Town of Fort Myers Beach Parks & Recreation Department and the Beach Kids Foundation!
The Easter Egg Hunt for children ages 8 and younger begins at 9 a.m.; for kids age 9 to 13 years old, their hunt will start at 9:15 a.m. In addition to finding Easter Eggs, youngsters will enjoy egg-stravagant activities like a bounce house, inflatable slide, playground, coloring contest, crafts and of course an appearance by the Easter Bunny!
“The eggs are fun-filled colorful plastic ones,” said Danielle Felton, Program Coordinator for the Town’s Parks & Recreation Department. “Some will have candy and others will have small toys inside! This is not a competition, as there are plenty of eggs for everyone. The older kids will have a slightly more challenging Hunt around the campus, whereas the younger children will stay in the large baseball field. The Hunt itself does not take that long; maybe 30 minutes to find all the eggs, so we encourage everyone to stay to enjoy the inflatable bounce houses, slides and of course The Easter Bunny! When families are done with the actual Hunt, we please ask everyone to return the empty egg shells so we can use them again next year.”
Danielle explained that the Easter Egg Hunt “is a continuation of the tradition begun by the Beach Kids Foundation and we are working with them. Special thanks go out to our sponsors – the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District and The Friends of Bay Oaks.” The Bay Oaks Recreational Center is at 2731 Oak Street, between the Beach Elementary School and Fort Myers Beach Community Pool.
