On April 11, the Ascension Council of Catholic Women (ACCW) held a pot luck luncheon and celebrated 50 years of the Ft Myers Beach Kiwanis Club’s service to local children and the community.

Roger Welton spoke about the history of Kiwanis at Ft Myers Beach, and the success of their Thrift Store, highlighted by their huge commitment to funding for the Golisano Children’s Hospital. Eric Tibbs discussed the FMB Kiwanis Club’s sponsored youth services, such as baseball, soccer, ‘every child a swimmer’, Ft Myers Beach Elementary School K-Kids, two high school Key Clubs, and soon hoping to start a middle school Builders Club, as well as providing needed equipment and materials at the elementary school. Tom Swanbeck spoke about membership, meetings at Bonita Bills Waterfront Cafe, and volunteer opportunities at the Thrift Shop. Debbie Dunlap, not pictured here, presented the club’s community many service activities.
