On January 20, Fort Myers Beach Art Association and Gallery presented awards for their Winter juried show, Over the Moon. Members and non-members of the art association submitted paintings for the exhibit which was judged by renowned artist, Sally Cooper. The awards ceremony was preceded by a gallery talk given by artist Michele Barron Buelow. Fresh Catch Bistro sponsored this event and supplied refreshments for all those who attended. Artwork in this exhibit is available for viewing and purchase until February 7, 2019.
First Prize was presented to Cheryl Fausel for A Tribute to Albert Anker. Tracy Owen Cullimore was awarded second Prize for Before the Dance. Third prize went to Sue Pink for Oh NO Lake “O”!#1.
Merit Awards were presented to the following: Michele Barron Buelow for Blue Shade, Brian Christensen for Untitled and Patricia Payzant for Nimbus. Honorable Mention awards went to: Penny Fox for Chicago Vibe II, Irvin Hawkes for Check Mate and Dannica Walker for Bloomstruck.
Dillman’s Creative Arts
On Saturday, January 26 from 1 – 4 p.m. The Fort Myers Beach Art Association and Dillman’s Creative Arts Foundation of Lac du Flambeau, in northern Wisconsin, will host a day of free art demonstrations and a reception for artists and friends at the FMBAA Gallery.
The Festival includes free demonstrations by well-known artists including: 1 – 1:45 p.m. Tom Jones Solutions to Techniques and Bonnie Jones Watercolor Batik Techniques; 2 – 2:45 p.m. David R. Becker Acrylic Workshop and 3 – 3:45 p.m. Hannah Ineson Watercolor Journaling.
There will be hourly door prizes, silent auctions, art sales of internationally known artists and information on resources for artists. Free refreshments are provided by Dillman’s Creative Arts Foundation. Enjoy the company and camaraderie of likeminded people for the afternoon.
