Fort Myers Beach Art Association (FMBAA) has announced the accomplishment of signature status for two of their instructors: Sue Pink and Cheryl Fausel. Sue has two classes scheduled for January and February 2018. Cheryl offers three different series of classes beginning in November 2017. Please see www.fortmyersbeachart.com for more information. Both Sue and Cheryl attended the New York City event held by the American Watercolor Society.
Sue Pink, now has the following signatures after her name: AWS, NWS, SW, FWS, GWS, TWS, TaWS. Growing up in a household with her professional commercial artist and book illustrator mother and a talented construction business father, Sue was exposed to creativity since she was old enough to hold a crayon. She always had plenty of readily available art supplies for her use; and use it she did!
Sue attended schools in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Midway through college she married and moved north of Fairbanks, Alaska and a few years later settled on a cranberry bog near Cape Cod, MA. During this time she became interested in and pursued the medium of watercolor. She began taking classes with local instructors but soon was taking every available workshop offered by nationally known talented artists. Sue has been awarded signature membership in The American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Texas Watercolor Society and Tallahassee Watercolor Society. Sue currently teaches watercolor classes, conducts workshops, does public demonstrations of her painting technique, is a popular demo artist for the Florida Watercolor Society and conducts gallery talks to instruct the public how to better understand why the winning paintings were chosen for the awards. Sue’s artwork has been displayed in over 200 competitive art shows and she has received 83 awards for her paintings. She has been published in Splash 13, Splash 14 and The Artist Touch 6. You may view more of her paintings at www.suepink.com
Cheryl A. Fausel has signature status in the National Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Florida Watercolor Society and the Tri- State Watercolor Society. Cheryl combines realism with abstraction. There is a pursuit of control with a heavy emphasis on design and composition. Color is important, and is based on the values needed to develop the painting. At the same time, a painting should tell a story, not immediately evident. An emotional reaction, as well as an interpretation of an idea is presented through design. Cheryl’s work is collected nationally as well as internationally. She is also a member of the Florida Artists Group and the National League of American Pen Women. She is published in Watermedia of America Vol. II, A Walk Into The Abstract Vol. II and Splash 17, published July 2016. Her website is: www.cherylafausel.com.
If you are interested in learning to paint, FMBAA offers several short workshops next season. For more information on next season’s classes visit www.fortmyersbeachart.com or call 239-463-3909.
