    Join members of the Estero Island Historic Society for the 2015 Estero Island Historic Society Holiday Open House and Bake Sale on Saturday, December 12th from 4-6pm at The Historic Cottage, 161 Bay Road, Fort Myers Beach. Sip punch & view the festive decorations adorning the cottage or purchase fresh baked goods. Everyone is welcome to partake in some historic-themed holiday cheer. Donations of baked goods are most welcome. Please drop off your treats for sale in The Annex of the Historic Cottage between 10am and 3pm on Saturday, Dec. 12. The Historic Cottage also has ideal holiday gift items for any budget: Christmas tree decorations, books on local and Florida history, decorative notecards, and cozy woven afghans featuring historic sites on Fort Myers Beach. The Historic Cottage is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am-Noon.


    Enjoy our area’s finest delicacy, Gulf Pink Shrimp, at the monthly Shrimp Dinner offered at Historic St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church, 5601 Williams Dr. on SA Dec 12 from 5-7pm. All you can eat GULF shrimp, homemade cole slaw, baked beans, cornbread, beer, wine, soda and dessert. $20/per person.


    December 12 is the Santini Marina Plaza Christmas Celebration from 9am-1pm. Area choirs including The Three Oaks Children’s Choir and The Chapel by the Sea Choir will be performing. Santini merchants are all decked out for Christmas and are a great source of unique gifts and services. The Santini Fresh Market parking lot will be filled with 30+ hand made gift vendors with one of a kind gift ideas to complete your Christmas shopping.


    The “Cool Yule Band” is coming to Fort Myers Beach on SU Dec 13 from 4-6pm at Santini Marina Plaza to put its own distinct spin on the music of “the most wonderful time of the year.” They proudly present an interactive stage production titled, “Tidings of Great Joy – A Cool Yule Celebration.” Performing arrangements like “Funky King Wenceslaus” and “Salsa Claus is Comin’ to Town,” this is a Holiday spectacular you won’t soon forget.


    Islanders are invited to attend a presentation of the Downtown Redevelopment conceptual plans on MO Dec 14 at 5:30pm at Chapel by the Sea, 100 Chapel, St, in the 2500 block of Estero Blvd. Details of the proposed plan will be presented and residents will be offered the opportunity to offer suggestions and comment.     Islanders are invited to stop by Royal Scoop, 2307 Estero Blvd, to select an ornament off the tree with a suggestion for a gift for an area senior citizen. Select an ornament, buy the gift and return it to the tree and you can help a senior have a happy Christmas!


    The Fort Myers Beach Art Association will host the Art Divine Show at their gallery beginning SA Dec 12 until Jan 7. This show/sale features original art by FMBAA members priced at $150 or less.     The Friends of Matanzas Pass Preserve will conduct its monthly “By the Light of the Moon” program on FR Dec 25 beginning at 5:15pm. Participants will experience 90 minutes in the preserve as they sharpen their senses of smell, touch, hearing and night vision, gaining an appreciation of nature in the dark. Adults only.     The Bayside Estates Socialites will host a Holiday Bake Sale on SU Dec 13 from 8-11am in conjunction with the Men’s Club Pancake Breakfast in the Bayside Estates Clubhouse just off San Carlos Blvd south of Pine Ridge Rd. Stop by and pick up some holiday treats!


    Hope Hospice will present the “Five Wishes” program on MO Dec 14 at 12:30 pm at St Peter Lutheran Church, 3751 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. This program offers important information on making difficult critical illness care and end of life decisions. An easy-to-use guide is provided to document directions for those involved in carrying out the wishes of loved ones. Free and open to all.


    Join the Beach Kids Foundation this SA, Dec 12 from 7-11am in the Red Coconut Clubhouse at 3001 Estero Blvd, for the Spirit of the Holidays Pancake Breakfast. This fundraiser supports the Spirit of the Holidays effort to provide Christmas gifts to area children and families. 239-463-7200.


    Shell Point Retirement Community welcomes the Southwest Florida Symphony for its Holiday Pops concert on MO Dec 21 at 7:30pm in the Village Church, 151 Shell Point Blvd. The concert will include holiday classics, inspired by the Festival of Lights. Soprano soloist Laura Woyasz and the Symphonic Chorale of Southwest Florida will also perform.

    The Beach United Methodist Church presents Paul Todd & Paul Todd, Jr. plus the Hayne’s Sisters in a “Holiday Inn Concert on the Beach,” at the newly renovated Beach United Methodist Church on SU Dec 20 at 7pm.     Local author and illustrator James Swerneman will be at the Beach Baptist Farmer’s Market each WE in December from 9am-2pm to sign his books in the children’s series, Adventures of Ta and Boddington. The books will be available for $15 or $40 for three. The colorful books feature friendly wooly mammoths and not-so-friendly saber-toothed tigers.


    The whole family is invited to the annual Holiday Party at Bay Oaks Recreation Center hosted by the Town of Fort Myers Beach Parks & Rec Department on FR Dec 18 from 6:30-9pm. Enjoy cookie decorating, hot chocolate, holiday crafts and a chance to meet Santa, plus a Candy Cane Hunt for those age 17 and under. New this year is an ugly sweater contest. The uglier the better!
