    SAND SCULPTING

    The 29TH Annual American Sand Sculpting Championships continues this weekend at Wyndham Garden Hotel, 6890 Estero Blvd. Open daily through Nov 29 from 10am-5pm with activities each day: sand sculpting lessons, live music, Quick Sand competitions and much more.     OVERSEAS MILITARY WANTED

    The American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 274 on Buttonwood Drive is looking for the names of servicemen/women serving in our armed services in Iraq, Iran, Syria and Afghanistan, so that they can send them care packages. If you have a son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandson or granddaughter serving, please drop off their name and address at the American Legion on Buttonwood Drive or call Sue Eaton (National Security Chairman) at 239-466-6256. You or they do not have to be a resident of Florida.

    CHRISTMAS CONCERT

    The Paradise Coastmen will present their Christmas Concert TU, Dec 1 at 7pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The program by the popular 20-voice chorus will be a festive evening of holiday favorites in their four-part barbershop harmonies.     DOWNTOWN PLANS

    Islanders wanting a first look at the conceptual designs of a proposed downtown redevelopment are invited to attend a joint meeting of the Fort Myers Beach Town Council and the Lee County Board of Commissioners to be held MO Nov 30 from 1-4pm at Florida Southwestern State College, 8099 College Parkway, Nursing Building (AA), Fort Myers. Interested parties are invited to attend, however, no public comment will be taken at the meeting. Additional meetings will be scheduled on Fort Myers Beach.

    The Friends of the Mound House (FOMH) will host a Fundraiser Christmas Luncheon at Noon on SA Dec 5 at South Beach Grill. Tickets $45/person. Cash bar. Small beautifully decorated artificial trees and wreaths will be for sale as well at Santa’s, mystery hat boxes and note cards, plus a raffle for a Beach Santa. Author, actress and orator Laurie Nienhaus, will present, “Moments to Remember.” All proceeds go to FOMH to provide educational funds. Tables may be reserved.     LOVERS KEY STATE PARK

     CALUSA BLUEWAY PROGRAM

    The first talk in a series of free Calusa Blueway-related programs will take place the first Tuesday of the month Dec-Mar at the Wa-Ke-Hatchee Recreation Center, 16760 Bass Rd, Fort Myers.      BOOK SIGNING

    Local beach author Mary Tatarian writing as Mariah Lynne, will be signing her new time-travel adventure, “Shadows Across Time” on SA Nov 28 from 10am-2pm at Annette’s Book Nook in Santini Marina Plaza. Mariah Lynne’s other books include “The Love Gypsy,” “The Duchess’ Necklace and “Seabliss.”

     CONCERT BAND

    The Bonita Springs Concert Back will present a free concert on SU Dec 6 from 2-4pm in Riverside Park on Old 41 in Bonita Springs. The concert will include a wide variety of music in addition to some Christmas and Hanukkah favorites. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for a Toys for Tots collection.

    HOLIDAY LIGHTS

    Edison Ford Winter Estates kicks off its 40th anniversary celebration of Holiday Nights on Nov 27. The homes and grounds are decorated with thousands of lights and decorations.
