On Wednesday, May 22,the Estero Island Garden Club was visited by a group from the Florida Friendly Landscape Design Committee. The Ann Reasoner Memorial Garden at Bay Oaks Recreation Center was judged on many criteria, among them: design and use of Florida-friendly plants, use of fertilizer, water usage and drainage. Four master gardeners filled out paperwork, examined plants, asked questions and congratulated the Club on the Garden. All criteria were met, and the Ann Reasoner Garden was awarded the Florida Friendly Landscape designation. Thanks go to all members and past members who contributed their expertise to the planting and upkeep of the garden. A special thanks to Paula Smith who helped bring this award to fruition. The Club hopes that visitors and residents alike will take time to come visit the Garden, located at Bay Oaks by the Community Building.
