PUTT & PUB CRAWL
Watch out for some wild-looking golfers downtown Fort Myers Beach this Saturday during the 7th Annual Putt & Pub Crawl. Nine hole sponsors create their own “goofy golf” hole and teams have from 10am-4:30pm to visit all nine of them before heading to the Yucatan Beach Stand for dinner and awards. VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY
Fort Myers Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10097 will host a Veterans Appreciation Day on Sunday, Jan. 22nd at the Post, 17770 Pine Ridge Rd., Fort Myers Beach They are offering a FREE lunch and two beverage tickets to ALL veterans of foreign wars and their families. Festivities are 12-5pm. They encourage veterans to bring their families to enjoy the festivities. There will be a bounce house, crafts and other monitored activities for the youngsters, as well as live entertainment for your listening and dancing pleasure. “The Best of Broadway” will be presented Monday, January 23rd, 7pm as part of the 2017 Concert Series at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Ft. Myers Beach. The show spotlights songs from Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, and many more of the all-time great Broadway musicals. The concert features three of Southwest Florida’s top performers, Mark Sanders, Deborah Marino and Lee Van Asten. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. The 6th Annual DoO Wop Festival spins into Santini Marina Plaza on Saturday, Jan. 21st from 9am-1pm. The festival features a dance contest, your favorite oldies spun by DJ Larry from 9am-1pm, plus the Santini Fresh Produce Market, over 30 artists and crafters, Skye’s Margaritas and Blood Mary’s and some great food from the Restaurants of Santini. The main event of the day is a Dance Contest at noon that brings out the Islands’ best dancers to show off their jitterbug and shag skills. Dancers may register on site at the DJ tent from 11 – 11:30 a.m. and request a tune. AL HOLLAND & FRIENDS CONCERT
This year’s Fort Myers Beach Friends of the Arts Winter Concert Series begins on Thursday, Jan. 26th at 7pm with a concert by Island favorite Al Holland & Friends. A former member of The Platters, Al Holland will have your toes tappin’. Tickets are $25. SUNSET SING ALONG
Sing or play along as Beach Volunteer Mike, leads the group in acoustically played classics from the 60’s such as the Beatles, Everly Brothers, Motown and more. Held each Thursday through March 9th at 5pm at Bowditch Point Park. Free with paid parking. Meet on the deck near the parking lot.

The 8th Annual Valentine’s Day Vow Renewal Ceremony at Lovers Key State Park is now taking registrations. The February 14th event is open to just 80 couples and is expected to sell out both 10am and 3pm ceremonies. Both ceremonies will take place at the beachside gazebo and will include a Champagne toast, full brunch/lunch, coffee, cake and desserts, dancing, socializing, photo plus a special gift and door prizes. The annual meeting of the Friends of Lovers Key will feature a presentation by the Shy Wolf Sanctuary on TU Jan 24 from 6:30-8:30pm at the FMB Woman’s Club, 175 Sterling Ave, FMB. All are invited. Come and learn about the Friends and their work to help maintain and enhance the state park and their upcoming events. Memberships start at just $40 and include 12 free entries to Lovers Key State Park. Shy Wolf Sanctuary, Education & Experience Center provides sanctuary and care for dozens of rescues wild and captive-bred exotic animals, specializing in wolves.
All are invited to join the Chapel by the Sea Dolphin Walking Club every Tuesday morning. Gather on the church veranda at 9:30am and enjoy an easy 30-minute walk around Chapel neighborhoods or on the beach before returning to Chapel. Free and open to the public.
SONGWRITERS AT SUNSET
A free Acoustic Concert Series at Lovers Key State Park is offered on the first TH of each month Nov-Apr. The next concert is TH Feb 2 at 4:00pm and will feature all original music. The concert will take place at the beachfront gazebo. Seating available for the first 80 people. Bring a chair or blanket. Come enjoy some great original music in an intimate “bluebird Café” style. Chapel by the Sea presents a concert by Duo Lana (mother & daughter) at Chapel by the Sea on Thurs., Jan 26th at 7pm.
